About Mulavukad

Mulavukad , popularly known as Bolghatty Island is a part of Kochi City of Ernakulam District in Kerala State. This small yet beautiful island is surrounded by Vallapuram Island and Vypin Island on its west side and Vaduthala on its east side. Gosree Bridges connect Mulavukad to Vallarpadam and Ernakulam. The Periyar River flows on the east of Mulavukad.  The island has total area of 20 sq km and is an ideal holiday retreat for tourists of all genres. The nearest airport to Mulavukad is Cochin International Airport.

Bolgatty Palace

One of the major attractions of Mulavukad is the Bolghatty Palace. This palace was built by a Dutch Trader in the year 1744. Later on it was used for administrative purpose by the Dutch Rulers.  Later on, the British took over the place and right now it has been transformed into an attractive heritage hotel that is looked after by KTDC (Kerala State Tourism Department). This two-storied palace is beautifully decorated. All the rooms have world-class furnishing with attached bathrooms. The Palace has got varieties of accommodations like waterfront cottages, suites and rooms. The facilities available at this heritage hotel are Pearl Spot, the multi cuisine restaurant; View Point, the conference room; High Life, the bar; Age Halt, the Ayurveda Centre. The heritage hotel offers some other facilities like travel assistance, indoor recreation room, cable TV, Swimming Pool, Money Exchange facility, picnic spot and 16 hours room service.
